Rise of the Phoenix

Female Phoenix Tattoo

Female Phoenix Tattoo

This is my first Photo of the week.

I choose this beautiful photo of a nude woman with a tattoo of a Phoenix that uses her entire back as a canvas. It expresses the beauty of the female form as well as the beauty of the bird and it’s representation. The sheer impact of the design and symbolism brings this photo and body to life. I hope to one day get this tattoo myself, but with my own design and use of color to represent myself.

The phoenix is a mythical bird with a colorful plumage and a tail of gold and scarlet, but can often be seen with various vibrant colors. It is know to have 500 to 1,000 year life-cycle, near the end of which it builds itself a nest of myrrh twigs that then ignites; both nest and bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix or phoenix egg arises, reborn anew to live again.

The phoenix is a symbol of fire and divinity. The Phoenix bird is often used to symbolize rebirth or recovery, especially after a catastrophe. It is a powerful symbol of overall strength, which its powers of healing and regeneration bring comfort and an end to suffering.
